Rod & Mary - Fulltimers 2014 travel blog

It would be nice to say that our stay in Fiji was exotic and full of excitement, but frankly, we were tired. The Saniasali Beach Resort was very comfortable with excellent food while Nadi was a bit away and pretty much closed up on Saturday and Sunday. We had been on the go, either driving or sightseeing every day but one for three months, so we rested, ate leisurely breakfasts, enjoyed casual happy hours on the beach and finally got our "shrimp on the barbie" for dinner at the poolside grill. Some of our friends went snorkeling and enjoyed it, but it was an hour small boat ride in the mid afternoon sun for stirred-up water and dull coral - though some colorful fish and shark sightings - so we decided to pass.

As with the Great Barrier Reef, we'd go back to Fiji but would want to make sure to stay in a location that would provide a first rate snorkeling and SCUBA experience. That probably means continuing on to one of the 300+ smaller out islands!
