Ok, we admit it...we don't do turnpikes, bridges & toll booths very well! We got an early start as we were a bit apprehensive over our drive into New York. Many folks told us to avoid the city, so after much studying, we figured out the route we thought would be best for us. Traveling on a Saturday was helpful. And the roads were pretty good. But the traffic seemed to always be in a hurry & they certainly weren't interested in letting us squeak into their lane when we finally figured out we were in the wrong one!

And the toll booth operator did not give us a break when we showed up with no ticket after missing it a few miles back. She smilingly told us "that will be $16.60 please!" Bummer...another missed turn & we were soon back at her booth again! This time it was only $1.00! She thought we were very cute! Our GPS finally got us to the right corner (prior to that she kept insisting on taking us through NYC) & we arrived about 4:00, shaking, exhausted & starving, but all in one piece! Just kidding, it wasn't that bad.

We are actually at the Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City, NJ, just across the river from the city. We are looking at the Statue of Liberty off to our right. The "park" is actually a large, gravel parking lot with white lines indicating which lane you can park in. Sort of like the local Wal-Mart, only $60 a night for W/E....! Whew...well guess all of this prime property is just too valuable to put RV parks on. And this is the closest park, and nearly the only one, in this area. So, we are here for 3 nights.

On the positive side, we are meeting brother Jerry, Ann & Josh at 8:30am tomorrow at Penn Station to spend the day sight-seeing, and we are so excited! We can't wait. This has always been a must see for us. Even if it's just for a day or two. I hope I can get some great pictures. I use some of them as my screensaver you know!

Well, it's 11:30pm, so I better hit the sack. Morning will be here before we know it & we will be in the city for at least 12 hours. We will be taking the subway under the Hudson River. Pretty cool!
