On the way to Charleston, West Virginia

The scales found in the West Virginia capitol

We arrived at the capitol of West Virginia in Charleston at the end of the day. The last of the sun's light was filtering through the brilliantly colored fall leaves on the trees making them even more dazzling and breathtaking. We were reading the proclamation

at the closing of the day in the 48th state, the last capitol of this mission. It struck us as symbolic of the soon closing chapter of American life as we have known it.

Near the end of the proclamation a Grounds and Maintanence worker came over to us and asked if we were passing judgment on the state. We said "no" we were making a proclamation though and he responded that this state needed to be judged because the lawmakers said they were dispensing fair and just practices, but, he said, they are not. There is so much corruption in this state, he said. Then he went on to tell us about some balance scales down by the attorney general's office, corroded, dusty, stored away in a corner. He told us where to find them so we could see for ourselves if we wanted. We did and sure enough there they were tucked away in a side hall - Ruth found them actually - It did take some detective work - but there they were just as the worker had described. How symbolic, the scales of justice, corroded and dusty from lack of use and care, tucked away in a deserted corner of the halls of government, no longer weighing fairly the affairs of men, no longer the rule that governs men's consciences.

A fitting picture, we thought, of man in his relationship to YHVH. The Torah (law) of YHVH has been set aside, pushed off to the corner of an unused room, left to corrode and collect dust so mankind can pursue his own evil intents. For according to the prophet Jeremiah, "the heart of man is desperately wicked and deceitful above all things."

And quoting from the book of Judges, "and everyone did what seemed right in their own eyes."

These things, our dear friends is what is bringing about YHVH'S judgment on America and those of like-mind.

2Ch 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
