The nearby town of Comfort was my next stop. I had some ice cream in the Soda Shoppe.
Comfort was established in 1854 by German immigrants moving further west from New Braunfels. They rested here and were so taken with the place, that they didn't see any need to travel further. Nearly the entire downtown is on the National Register of Historic Places. Many rock buildings and businesses were very well preserved and, therefore, did not have to be restored in order to be placed on the Register.
