We have driven this beautiful drive many times while in Moab, but never with snow like this. It was incredible!
Sheer walls of red sandstone contrast with the flowing waters of the Colorado River which runs adjacent to this Scenic Byway. The road connects US 191 with I-70, and features such attractions as Fisher Towers, which loom 1500 feet above the valley floor, and Dewey Bridge, a one-lane suspension bridge which was used until 1986. The bridge has been placed on the National Historic Register.
The last time we drove this one we turned off at the La Sal Mountain Loop, this time we went all the way to the end. We were not able to stop at any of the parks today, they had so much snow they were closed.
It was amazing to see the Colorado River with islands of ice floating, some areas had sheets of frozen ice for large areas. This drive is amazing without snow, but it was breathtaking with the snow. Another amazing day in Moab, check back later for more.
