Today our J.O.Y. Fellowship had a belated Independence Day celebration. We had the “requisite” hotdogs and trimmings, watermelon, strawberry pie, red muffins with white frosting and big blueberries, and ice cream. We were all given a necklace of silver beads with red and blue stars. We had some guests from the Brookdale Gaines Retirement complex. A few people from their choir entertained us with flower-themed songs (“Daisy Bell”, “My Wild Irish Rose”, “A White Sport Coat and Pink Carnation” and several others) as well as some patriotic ones. Our Fine Arts Director, Mary Ellen, goes to their complex to direct their choir once a week.
