|We spent a nice day in Mesquite with Mom on Wednesday celebrating her birthday. I prepared a Mexican meal for lunch & we enjoyed a sour cream blueberry pie from Marie Callender's afterward. Mom looked nice & she was in good spirits as well. Nice to see for a change. Her magnesium levels were normal this past week so she was able to skip her three times per week injections. Thank goodness, her veins are all tired and definitely needed a break. She received numerous phone calls wishing her a happy birthday while we were there. And she had a table full of pretty cards. Sister Elaine & niece Bobbi visited for a couple of days earlier in the week and cousin Kim & her hubby Don were coming to see her on Thursday. So nice for her to see & hear from so many family members & friends. Anyway, Happy Birthday Mom & hope you have many more!!
Thursday Larry & Bonnie joined Larry & I for a matinee & dinner. We saw the Tom Hank's flick, 'Extraordinarily Loud & Extremely Close'. It was different. Well acted
But nothing like we expected. We're glad we saw it on the big screen but it is not a movie I would pay to see again. Unlike others that I would watch 50 times over! Like Pretty Woman, Top Gun, Shawshank Redemption & the list goes on. We enjoyed our meal afterward, at Famous Dave's BBQ, immensely. The ribs were wonderful, tender & tangy, we split a rack & when we were finished still had 4 ribs left! We were looking forward to the bread pudding but just couldn't! That's a good thing, lol!
Today, Friday, we joined our old friend Warren for lunch at one of the local hotels, Arizona Charlie's. He treated us to a terrific buffet and we spent a couple of hours catching up, although he follows our blog religiously so it's tough to come up with news that he's not already aware of. Warren was one of my players when I managed a small poker room a few year's ago and is currently a relief shift boss in a poker room here in Vegas. So we have mutual friends & co-worker's to talk about. He looks good & is doing well and we thoroughly enjoyed our time together. It had been a couple of years since our last visit & we vowed to not let that happen again. After leaving Warren we headed to the diagnostic center for a new x-ray on Larry's foot. He sees the orthopedic surgeon soon & they wanted new film to compare with the old. Hopefully the foot is healing. He's anxious to start a new walking program.
So, that's it for us for now. Our days all seem to run together, we certainly seem to stay busy! The weather has been fantastic, warm & sunny. But cloudy skies & even a bit of rain are predicted for next week. We'll just have to wait & see I guess. I want to get out on the boat! So, rain, rain, go away, lol!
