This is part two of our visit to Zion National Park, please see yesterday’s update for part one. For this part of the tour, we drove the incredible Zion Scenic Drive and stopped for lunch at the Zion Lodge. They had beautiful outdoor seating too, but it was so cold, we were freezing. Jerry let me out to park the car so I could take pictures. He was invaded by turkeys on the way back. It was so funny to see turkeys all over the parking lot, not something we see every day. :-)

We had the soup and salad bar special, they had a wonderful winter squash soup and bison stew. We had a million dollar view and watched the deer outside our window. Back on the drive we made a lot of stops. Some of the areas were closed because of all the snow. We missed Weeping Rock and the temple area. We could have walked the icy path to the temple area, it was not closed, but they sure had a lot of warning about falling. It was covered with ice and it was a long walk too. I took a picture of what we missed from the info area at least. We definitely need to see this park in the summer too.

The Virgin River runs all through the park, it is a beautiful river. We made several stops just to take pictures. Another favorite part of the park (there are many) was the Great White Throne area. The Great White Throne is a huge white monolith that demands attention as soon as you glimpse it. Considered the symbol of Zion National Park, this massive block of Navajo sandstone towers 2,000 feet high. It is incredible!

I am going to stop here for this update, hopefully I will only need one more to add all the pictures I want to add from this incredible park. Please be sure to check for the next update from Zion National Park.
