|Tue, 08 Sept: Happy Birthday Bobbie!!!
After more than a week parked at the Westminster (CO) Elks Lodge it is time to roll wheels. After all, those tires under our coach need some exercise, plus we have a peripatetic reputation to uphold.
After getting things ready for the road we moved Carpe to the Lodge's dump site where Bob did the "honors". Since we'd dumped late last week this was a relatively painless operation. Then another quick relocation to the Lodge's parking lot where we connected the car and checked lights, brakes, etc.
At roughly quarter past nine we left the Lodge and headed for Interstate 25 south. For some reason our GPS took us past the quick route to the Interstate so Sandi got to visit downtown Denver in order to enter the "super slab". Once on the Interstate the traffic was pretty heavy for a bit as we encountered the vestigial remains of the morning commute.
Once clear of the big city we continued south through Castle Rock, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo. South of Pueblo we exited I 25 for US 160 thru Walsenburg. West of town we pulled into a large gravel parking lot where we'll spend the nite in boondock mode. We have a full week to drive a bit more than six hundred miles so slow and easy will be our goal.
Today's drive was 170 miles with a fuel economy of slightly more than eight mpg.
