Heading west, out of Roswell, on Highway 70.

Speed limits on these secondary roads are not unlike the interstate.

A few miles further.

Further yet.

Heading up into the hills.

Circle B RV Park at Ruidoso Downs.

A little shot of the countryside from the campground, looking west.

Taken from the door side of trailer.

Hill Country.

This was just a little hop, skip and a jump from Artesia. Again, the secondary roads are decent traveling, and the scenery is much nicer than a freeway. As you can see from the pictures, there still wasn’t much out there until I started climbing into the hills.

There was a fairly steady gradual climb starting a few miles west of Roswell. About ½ hour before reaching Ruidoso, I passed a 6,000 foot elevation marker. This also means the temperatures have dropped a bit from the past few days, although it’s still comfortable.

There’s really not too much to tell about today. After getting set up, I pretty much lounged around for the rest of the day, and worked on this a bit.

Travel time: 2+ hrs.

Distance: 109 miles
