Ice on mountains

Left Whitehorse on another beautiful day and headed further north to Alaska. We finally met the roads that are talked about in the Milepost just north of Destruction Bay. They were so bad we were doing about 20-30 mph for over 100 miles..OUCH!!! Lots of frost heaves and gravel. Canada tries to mark the bad spots, but for this stretch of road you can't really get going because they all can't be marked...there are too many!!! We are seeing a lot of snow lower down on the mtns than before. We have a great view of the icefield ranges. We are in the St. Elias Mountains. This range has the highest & youngest in Canada. The highest, Mt. Logan, is 19,545 ft. It is the largest non-polar ice field with ice up to 2200 ft. thick. Pulled in the White River RV Park and had a real nice fire with the rest of the folks in the park and went to bed with a light rain on the roof.
