Well, it is Christmas time in California – warm as usual. I decorated our little home to help set the holiday mood. But things are still difficult for our family without Dad. Thanksgiving was subdued and as I am trying to help out my mother, it is difficult to see her grieving.
I reconnected with girlfriends from my days volunteering at the Anaheim Servicemen's Center (a private organization like a USO, that entertained the visiting military in Anaheim from 1968-1974.) The girls met for lunch and went to visit one of the older ladies, who is now in assisted living. We had a great afternoon catching up and reminiscing. Almost forgot to snap a photo, and took one of Liz, Lynda and I after one of the women left, sorry JoAnne.
Larry has been walking every morning and keeping Robert company, who really misses us when we are gone on the road. I also got to meet with my grade school girlfriends from Our Lady of Victory, who were also in my Brownie and Girl Scout Troop in Compton. We try to come together whenever one gal, Linda, comes down to visit her brother.
For New Year’s Eve, we enjoyed a quiet evening in the lodge with a few friends, as the lodge celebrated in the main room. We still got to visit people who came into the lounge and we could still hear the music from the event, so it was fun.
