An epic drive today for a day trip down to south-east Utah to two parks: Arches NP and Dead Horse Point SP, whilst Laurence worked (big thanks for letting me have the car).

First part of the drive was along the Great Salt Lake, with massive snow covered mountains all around, then over a mountain pass, and down into the Great Basin dessert, with multi-coloured cliffs to the side, then into canyon country where the Green and Colorado Rivers have etched deep canyons and the different layers of sandstone have been eroded into amazing shapes.

Arches NP borders the Moab fault, the formations are salmon-coloured Entrada sandstone and in the layer below, the buff-coloured Navajo sandstone.
