Rich Marble interior of the Capitol Building

Capitol Building of Nebraska--Art Decco style

Carved scene over the door of the Capitol Building

Upon first sight of the Nebraska State Capitol we were impressed by the tower that has the resemblance an ear of corn. Nebraska is the Cornhusker state after all! It is the third capitol built in the Art Deco Style, North Dakota and Louisianna being the other two. We read the proclamation at night so we were not able to tour the inside of the capitol, but looking through the glass entry doors we were impressed with the cathedral like quality of the interior. The state motto inscribed over the entry was also interesting, "The salvation of the state is in the watchfulness of its citizens." We think that could be taken a few different ways!

We hope you are enjoying this tour. Thank you again for your continued prayers!
