Vicksburg, MS to Vidalia, LA
Nov 20, 2008
|Today we had a short drive down Hwy 61 to Natchez, MS and then across the Mississippi River to Vidalia, LA. We began our day in the usual manner and when the coffee was gone we got busy.
First thing on the agenda was to enjoy the complimentary breakfast buffet at the Ameristar Casino. The free shuttle bus drove up just as we were ready to walk to the office and call for a ride. What a deal!
We rode over to the Casino, just a short distance away, and sat down to a leisurely breakfast.
Back at the Campground, Carl & Linda began getting ready to move as Marilyn & I did. We had a call from Heinz & Irene and while eating breakfast, a call from Gordon & Juanita. It won’t be too long before we see these fine folks in Texas.
It was 10 minutes before 10:00 AM when we pulled out of the Ameristar RV Park. The drive to Riverside RV Resort in Vidalia, LA was only 76.2 miles and we ended up with a total of 9.7 mpg for the trip.
We were all set up and sitting in our lawn chairs, soaking up the sunshine and the 70 degree temperatures, by 12:30. Around 1:30 PM, Carl went back to his RV and Marilyn & I went indoors to have some lunch.
Marilyn heated some of the “Pasta in a Pot” she had made for our trip, and we finished that off.
The Wi-Fi does not work in the park so I will have to walk or drive up to the office to use the computer hookups to post this journal. We also have pictures to post from the Battlefield tour of yesterday. I will get those posted for you as soon as I can.
We are relaxing this afternoon and tomorrow, Marilyn & I will tour some of the antebellum homes in Natchez.
On Saturday we will make a push to reach Beaumont, Texas, where we plan to stay at Gulf Shores RV Park for one night to a week, depending on our plans and feelings at that time.
After leaving Beaumont we will stay one night at Victoria and then move on to Llano Grande RV Resort. We are looking for warm weather. We certainly found it today, even using the A/C for awhile.
It is forecast to turn much colder tonight and tomorrow, so moving on from Vidalia will be no problem.
Well dear readers, that is it for today. I have quite a bit of computer work to get done today so I will get busy.
I hope all of you are having a good day. We certainly had an easy day today, and we just can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store.....
P.S. I want to thank all of you who have written lately. With the internet problems, I just haven't had time to answer the messages. I appreciate the suggestions about a place to park in Beaumont, TX. It has been unanimous that we should stay at Gulf Shores RV Park. Also, thanks to Jenny J. for spotting my mistake about what day of the week is on November 23rd and 24th. Shucks, Jenny, sometimes I really don't know what day it is today..... That is one of the advantages of being retired, it just doesn't matter much. :)
Have a great day everyone. Hugs to all of you.
