Sunday at The Festival International de Ballons is always exciting! It was Twinings day where four balloons from neighboring countries are tied together with ribbons and flags signifying the friendship and cooperation between them. They attempt to fly as far as possible with the ribbons in tact. They did not get very far today. Bag pipers were on the launch field to send them off with "Amazing Grace"!
Patrick and Gina have some wonderful friends and their sons from Geneva that joined us the dinner last evening and our flight today. Andrea and Malcolm flew with Jon on Andrea's first flight...you can tell from the photos that she didn't have a very good time (NOT!). They joined us for ceremony and we watched the airshow from the side of the mountain where Jon landed. It was a soft and gentle landing in the snow next to a road (yeah, Jon!) and a lovely flight. Boy, Al, can you back a trailer up the hill! Muchas gracias! Whoops, tres bien!
This evening we were honored with a Swiss Raclette dinner prepared especially for us by our special friends and Swiss crew members Pierre and Magali. What a treat! Incredible cheese, dried beef, potatoes, great wine and good friends! What more could one ask?
Our weather is turning and a front is coming in. It is now raining softly and it is 34 degrees. We are hoping that the temp drops quickly to preserve the snow that we have. A few more inches of snow is expected in the the next 18 hours. Looks like we will be touring the Fromagerie (Cheese Factory) in the next town tomorrow instead of flying!
