The big haul.....
Early start so we can fit a trip to Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Park to visit Lady Knox Geyser and her “blow” in before heading to Wellington.
A quick trip into the Main Street of Rotorua for the necessary coffee..... it was ordinary to say the least. Straight on to the Park where we visited several pools and saw some similar type of things to yesterday as well as some completely different things.
Good old Lady Know was due her explosion at 10.15 so we headed up to visit her at home .... convenient that she goes off at 10.15 everyday. Well she was running a little late but nonetheless with her human help she blew her top eventually....
Back on the road again we start our trip to the windy capital..... a quick detour on a scenic lookout found us a great waterfall and shortly thereafter we found a coffee stop. As you should expect in the middle of nowhere .... terrible coffee....
We headed into Napier for lunch. It was a pretty place and the Irish pub did not let us down on the food front.
The last leg of 320km took us 4 and a bit hours mainly due to the constant slowing for small towns and the massive mountain range we had to get up and over.
The contrasts of countryside we traversed today was amazing.... tundra, lush farming , rollicking Hills, rainforest to name but a few.
Dinner tonight was in an international food court next to our hotel where we had Mexican fusion and an Export Citrus Beer - our newest drink.
I do manage to keep the girls amused with my attempted pronunciations of the towns we travel through . I think I’m not going so well.
