Our trip from Canute to Norman, OK was a short 119 miles under a good rain most of the way. There were not any pictures of the trip due to the constant rain. The passenger side windshield wiper decided to change positions and didn't do Doris much good though the driver side continued to work as designed. In addition the passenger side shade that comes down to block the sun (what sun he says) also decided to malfunction when we hit a hard entrance to a bridge. That left this accordion mechanism hanging down in front of the passenger side of the windshield. I told Doris that is was OK since she couldn't see out that side anyway due to the wiper malfunction! I did get both of those fixed while we were here but we will see how well tomorrow.
We arrived here at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds RV Park
about noon after stopping to give the Mothership a good drink. The fairgrounds have about 25 full hookup 30/50 amp sites around the perimeter of the parking lot and a few electric/water spots in the parking lot. We got the last full hookup site available when we got here. The only problem is the rain has left a pretty good sized puddle around most of the coach but we will only be here to sleep so it should work out. Most of the full hookup sites are in use by semi-permanent workers so there are not many left for us transients. We did see about one per day leave only to be replaced within a couple of hours. Being in town, we had good Verizon and the satellite was a quick setup, even using the tripod.
We had a wonderful visit with my relatives here eating way too much every day and a great time just visiting. My cousin is a great cook and is able to whip up meals for five or ten (all with different palates and allergies) with seeming ease though we know it's a lot of hard work. My aunt lives with her daughter (my cousin) and her husband in a very nice large home on about five acres. Their two children also have seven children (six age 4 or younger) who live close by and came over frequently so we got to visit with them all. There's definitely never a dull moment!! We only had two of the seven days with sunshine but hardly noticed. It was bittersweet leaving as we don't know when we will be passing this way again. :(
Tomorrow, we head for the small community of Alma, AR where we will be staying at an RV park contained within a golf course - too bad I don't golf!
