Cathedral in Barcelona

Gracia streets at night

Barcelona.....the pickpockets capital of the world, where car jackings occur in broad daylight and no-one cares....well none of that was in evidence, and we had a "fantastic" time. We stayed in Gracia, an area that features a lot of graffiti, design work etc....

We walked in Barrio Gottic, saw the Sta Maria del Mar cathedral and the Barcelona Cathedral....where a far bit of South American gold ended up, or so it seems....we walked the Las Ramblas, saw Gaudi's Casa Battlo, went to Parc Guell, saw the Sagrada Familia and the crowning glory for me - Palau Musico. Took the red bus tour, saw the water fountains at play for La Merce festival, had tapas, drank some Rioja and enjoyed being there altogether. We also enjoyed meeting Geoff and Marg's nephew Geoff, who just happened to be working in Barcelona whilst we were there; a real highlight. Sunday we picked up the leased Citroen without any pblems and headed off for our circumnavigation of Spain.
