Mediterranean Cruise travel blog

Tunis was the port I was most excited about on this Cruise. Since I had never been to Tunisia, I signed up for the all day excursion. We began the tour at the baths of ancient Carthage not far from the Punic port. In the actual city of Tunis we visited the Medina. We had the obligatory “carpet demonstration” and were herded into several other souvenir shops. The sales people were very aggressive so neither Lisa nor I bought anything. After a big group lunch we visited another shopping mecca, the village of Sidi Bou Said. The whitewashed buildings and bright blue doors were lovely but it was completely overrun with tourists. I'm glad I got to visit Tunisia but don't feel a need to go back.
