Thursday dawned sunny and bright, with deer in front of the motor home! We've seen them around, but they're fairly tame to approach campers as close as they do.

Today we're going to go north up the coast, so Graham can see some of the sights he missed when driving down.

First stop was the Cannon Beach viewpoint. This viewpoint is used in many of the Oregon tourism pictures, so we thought that our pictures of the view should be included too. The large rock visible in the picture of Cannon Beach is called Haystack Rock, since it looks (to someone) like a haystack. While at the viewpoint, we finally answered the question of "How do you vacation when you have a wife, two dogs and a motorcycle?". The pictures show a couple on a Harley trike. Each fender has a leather bag attached with a little dog inside. We followed these guys for a couple of miles and discovered that, when the bike was going fast, the dogs hid inside the bags. But when they slowed down, two little heads would pop up, checking out the scenery.

Next stop was the resort town of Seaside. We visited the outlet mall first, making a few purchases and avoiding state sales tax. Sunglasses, a new dust buster for the motor home and some clothing items. Then we were off to park and walk downtown. Had lunch at Doogers Seafood and Grill with 17 bikers, most of whom were 40 or more years old. Lunch was very good, especially the clam chowder. Then went for a walk down to the beach. Seaside is the end point of Lewis and Clark's exploration, and the main downtown street ends in a turnabout to celebrate this fact. The beach is huge and it was a warm sunny day.

After Seaside, we went back to the campground, stopping along the way at Arcadia Beach and another of the viewpoints in Oswald West State Park. Great views and they were filming a movie both at the viewpoint and on the Manzanita Beach. However, although we saw crew, cameras and cars, we didn't see any actors.
