Reversing Falls

St. John, New Brunswick

We pulled into the Canadian Maritime provence of New Brunswick at the harbor of St. John. St. John's "claim to fame" is the Reversing Falls of the Bay of Fundy. Reversing Falls is a natural phenomenon which occurs when the highest tides in the world in the Bay of Fundy force the St. John River to reverse its flow. With tons of water anxious to get to the sea, the St. John River meets the Bay of Fundy in a narrow rocky gorge. As the Fundy Tides rise, the mighty St. John discovers it has met its match. Twice a day at high tide, the bay wins, forcing the river to churn, tumble and flow upstream through a rocky gorge. Several jet boat rides through the Reversing Falls offer guests a unique perspective of the phenomenon. It was another gorgeous day to see this beautiful seaside town.
