Attack #6-Pooped in Port Hueneme
21 May - In spite of the hassle of getting base passes for my fellow HOMIES and their vehicles, we enjoyed a very quiet night with full hookups at the Fairways RV Park on the Port Hueneme Naval Construction Battalion Center.

Dan transported us in his FART vehicle to the nearby starting area where we met up with our fellow foot solders for attack #1 of 2 on the day. We’ve been anticipating marching on the beach in the cool ocean air since our first attack of the invasion 5 days ago. Today our wish came true, as we marched for many miles on the ocean front of Port Hueneme, Oxnard, and Ventura. Many of us experienced our first severe case of battle fatigue but still managed to enjoy the varied landscaping, historical sites, and vistas along the way.

We proceeded to attack #2 after chow and a short rest.
