Gerry's Myrtle Beach April 2009 Trip travel blog

Good Morning friends, family and RVers!

A beautiful day here in South Myrtle Beach, though a nationally reported wildfire is still smoldering in North Myrtle Beach, about 20 miles north of us.

It's actually in the Barefoot Landing area, where years ago Nancy and I used to camp at a beachfront campground with that same name...long since sold off for major resort development. It's the place we rode out a tropical storm one vacation...now a wildfire...yikes!

We have a midday trip planned back to my family in Mount Pleasant, we're bringing stuff to cook for dinner, we haven't been cooking much so far and want to use it.

A grilled/marinated turkey tenderloin is on the menu, as well as some smoked and regular bratwursts to grill. My "Mexican" sister Chris is making some form of a paella dish.

Marion and I have been having a wonderful time, and we had a great day together here in Lakewood Camping Resort yesterday, except for the winds.

We did some shopping again yesterday morning, then I made chicken salad for lunch, we sat on the beach and I walked while she sat, then I swam in the 68 degree ocean, then the 86 degree indoor pool, back to the RV for drinks with our next door MA friends, then Marion and I ate at the campground fish fry dinner back at the indoor pool area...Alaskan pollock, french fries, cole slaw, hush puppies and sweet tea...all you can eat for $8.00...not a good calorie day, but I did walk/bike ride 105 minutes yesterday to try to offset some of it.

We even had a cell phone call with Jay Hanratty and family while sitting with the MA group yesterday, always good to hear from the BoastMaster General! (Sorry Jay) Good luck next week in the elections, Jay.

I've got some great pictures of our trip coming, will post on our return, my cell internet data transfer maximum is getting close and don't want to go over uploading pictures. (Though I've discovered the reason for our usage already...may not be offering my Autonet Mobile wireless internet connection so quickly any more, people don't monitor their children online, what a shock!)

Hope you all have a wonderful day today, will be getting back to the RV after 10:00 tonite, so probably no more posts.
