Road Trip 2009 travel blog

It’s Wayneing in Wedding
2 March - I got out of Yuba City about 2 this afternoon and I’m currently parked at the RV friendly Win-River Casino just south of Redding. I am a little concerned about getting through the Mount Shasta area tomorrow. It may be snowing and if chains are required, I ain’t gettin’ thru cuz I ain’t got none. So, I’ll be turning around and heading for Sunny Southern California (where I really should be anyway).

Mall walking! What a concept. I’m not sure why I never though of this before but my quest for safe places to walk while traveling may be over. I know that lots of people throughout America walk the mall halls early every morning so why can’t I? Only, not so early. Today I parked in the Yuba City mall parking lot so I could walk to the bank. It was raining so I decided to walk in the mall awhile till it stopped or slowed down some, it was great. I stayed dry and warm, and there were lots of people, stores, and food to check out along the way. The Yuba City mall is small but it was still a full half-mile around the inside perimeter. I enjoyed it so much that I stopped a few miles up the road at the Chico mall and did it again. Check out these benes - it’s always dry with the perfect temperature, great RV parking, normally located in safe urban areas where I can usually get a good internet connection, most have their own security force (Paul Blart wannabees), great for people gazing, window shopping and last, but not least, food, water, and restrooms are readily available. Oh yeah, also, Daisy can easily locate and take me right to them. Wow! It’s a win-win-win-win-win combination. The mall-walking seed must have been planted last week by all the talking we did about walking in the Stockton mall and recently seeing the Mall Cop. It’s a revelation!
