We stopped for a burger in Kapaa Town on our way to...

Of course we stopped to look at the ocean

We took about a 30 minute flight from Honolulu to Kauai on Saturday morning. We landed at Luhue airport, picked up our Jeep Wrangler and headed to our home for the week, Alii Kai in Princeville on the north shore. Our first stop was Wal Mart to pick up groceries. We enjoyed the views of the ocean on our right and mountains on our left as we drove north. The foliage was so thick we expected to see King Kong come crashing through the trees. We sat on benches facing the ocean in Kapaa as we enjoyed our Bubbas Burgers (not the same ones you buy at the grocery store!). We found our condo without getting lost and sat on our balcony enjoying the view of the mountains. We were still trying to recover from the jet lag of our trip from Georgia so we only ventured out for dinner at Kalypso in Hanalei, a little town just up the road.

Kauai is called The Garden Island, and for good reason. Mountains are covered with trees, vines and other undergrowth. Hibiscus, bouganvilla and other tropical plants grow everywhere. Beautiful!
