British beach wear in Santa Cruz

An early start here, and some time spent getting my pics uploaded and an interesting discussion on American politics and culture. Vlad and Marina's house is amazing, it is like a huge forest cabin surrounded by big trees and wildlife (there is a deer under the balcony as I write), but in the middle of a city as well. If we squint between the trees we can see the high rise office buildings of Silicon Valley.

Today we have some pictures of me for a change. I had a chilled morning lying around and planning the next few days, then in the afternoon we drove off to a BBQ in Santa Cruz. Unfortunately so did half of San Francisco, so this involved a big traffic jam but all was well in the end. It was a Russian BBQ, and by that I don't mean there was a very long queue for the potato salad. The people there were mostly Russian Americans - nice folk - and a lot of fun, especially playing beach volleyball for the first time ever. I was more than a bit crap, but enjoyed it. And tomorrow I'm off to see the giant trees, something I have always wanted to do since seeing them in childhood encyclopedias!
