After lunch we went to Luckenbach and hung around for a while. This is the hamlet where “Everybody’s Somebody”. It was established as a trading post in 1849, making it one of the oldest settlements in Gillespie County. One of the first settlers in the area was Jacob Luckenbach (1817-1911). He was a German noble who hoped to gain great riches by establishing a colony in the New World. (http://www.luckenbachtexas.com/icws233w4/html/index.html)
Spencer was intrigued by Luckenbach and said that he wanted to move to Texas so he could visit it often. :>) A man with a longhorn steer, trained to a bridle and saddle, was letting people sit in the saddle for photos. Lois got on it and I got a cute photo of her.
Everyone except me went out to dinner tonight. I had developed a bad sinus headache in addition to the distress caused by the cheese steak sandwich, so I went to bed early.
