The Bouchers at Home on the Road travel blog

We're at Raccoon Valley RV Park, another Escapees Park, here in Heiskell, TN - just north of Knoxville. We arrived yesterday, after leaving Summerdale, AL on Monday morning, and spending our very first night ever in a WalMart parking lot in Northeast AL Monday night. WalMart is a favorite overnighting place for many RVers - although some towns are trying to put an end to that practice, often encouraged by the local campgrounds. It's handy not having to unhook the car and all, but I can't say we'll make this a regular practice. The park we're in now is an old KOA park - narrow roads, on a hill, and very close spaces. The big pluses are a good size dog run and a beautiful, rural area. Nizhoni sure needs to work off some energy, so dog runs are great, since she can be off leash and tear around after her frisbee. There are some nicely marked trails on the hill up in back of the campground, so maybe we'll take her up there - although I've seen all the snakes I want to see for awhile, I think, and these hills are probably full of them. We're planning on leaving here Saturday morning to head north again - will stay somewhere on I-81 in VA Saturday night, and then at Petro's Truck Stop in Scranton on Sunday night. Should pull into Bayview CG in Bourne sometime Monday afternoon or early evening.
