|After a lie in to recover from the previous days rafting adventures I eventually decided to get up to explore Christchurch. My hostel was about 10 minutes away from Cathedral Square which is the centre of Christchurch, dominated (obviously) by a Cathedral. I walked around the Cathedral, admiring the stained glass windows and the architecture, as most Cathedrals it was beautiful and peaceful inside. I then wandered around the Saturday market that was on in the square before walking down to the Botanic Gardens to see the Avon River. There were some couples being punted down the river, and in the warm winter sunshine it was a beautful day to walk by the river and admire the plants and flowers in the gardens. I read my book on one of the benches near the Dolphin Fountain and then wandered back to the main town to explore the shops, although not buying anything! I was going to go to a wildlife park, but due to my laziness I missed the shuttle bus, so I had a nice relaxing, inexpensive day.
