This is part two our our Browns Park Wildlife Refuge visit. If you missed part one, please be sure to check yesterday’s update. When we finished the 8 mile wildlife drive our next stop was the famous “Swinging Bridge”. At first we thought you could only walk over it, but we saw signs saying one car could drive over at a time. I was not sure I wanted to drive on this one at all, but Jerry wanted to so I went along with it. When we got to about the middle, I got out of the car and took a few pictures for proof. It was a bit scary but we are both glad we did it now. :-)
The bridge was originally built in 1927 for residents to move vehicles and livestock across the river. The bridge was used for many years before the boards were blown off and a new bridge was built in 1954. The area around the bridge has great fishing as well as awesome camping sites for tents etc. I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story. I am just happy we are HERE to tell it. :-) Check back later for more from Colorado.
