Looking out over Coalmine Beach

Van Park

Arrived at Rest Point at around 10:30 this morning. It’s a very scenic drive through the forests with some small areas of open farmland and it seemed all downhill from Manjimup. The trees are in places very close to the edge of the road and I’m talking about a metre diameter at the base, if you hit one there would be no soft stop. It’s quite a pretty park and in summer it would be very crowded.

After setting up camp we headed off into Walpole (about 120 km west of Albany) for some lunch at the Pub. Not at all inspiring from the outside but the $14 lunch special was way beyond what we expected. A huge bowl of pumpkin soup with 2 crusty rolls followed by a basket of fish & chips though quite a few other items were on the menu. I couldn’t eat my entire serve…

A quick drive around after lunch to see a few sights then back for a cuppa before getting ready for the extreme weather forecast for overnight and tomorrow, winds to 100kmh with hail and rain, it could get exciting…
