|Arrived by 2 hour taxi ride to Pokhara, a smallish (~200 thousand people) city on the lake with spectacular mountain views.
Celebrated return to civilization with a long, hot shower and meal of pizza, salad (washed with purified water), beer and wine.
Spent a week relaxing in this charming town. Have done a little sightseeing, including renting bikes to visit the International Mountain Museum - a huge place cataloguing geology, history and climbers of the world's biggest peaks; taking a local bus to see the Gurkha Museum - celebrating the Nepali Ghurka's exemplary record of military service; and renting a boat to paddle along the lake. John got his hair cut at a barber called "Champion Handsome Parlor" (good haircut, too). Otherwise, have spent our time reading and planning our South Africa trip.
