We are in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado. We went shopping at one of the famous 100 year old stores in town, F.M. Light and Sons. If you are anywhere near Steamboat Springs you will see their signs for miles away in every direction. It is a cool story to read about how their family came to town over 100 years ago from Ohio and started this well known store.
After touring the store and more of the town, we went to the 8th Street Steakhouse for wonderful steaks. We had planned to eat here on Mother’s Day, we even made reservations, but the snow falling in town caused us to change our plans and eat locally.
This restaurant is most unusual, you pick out the steak or chicken you want and cook it on a huge lava grill yourself. Jerry and I chose the New York stripes and they were delicious. They have a huge 20 items salad bar and Texas toast that comes with the meal.
From the U.S.D.A Prime steaks, broiled to perfection over our 500 degree lava rock grill, to the expertly executed seafood, appetizers and unforgettable desserts, this is a steakhouse that is a Steamboat favorite, we can certainly see why. :-)
The lava rock is so hot the steaks cook pretty fast. It was a fun dinner out and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Steamboat Springs. I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story. Check back later for more from our Colorado adventures.
