This morning I was on the road by 10:30, heading for Newport News, Virginia for a week-end visit with Marcella, Steven and Bridget Woolley. Marcella and I have been friends since we worked together in Norfolk, Virginia in 1991-92. I left that area in May 1992 but we have kept in touch through the years. Their youngest daughter, Bridget, was only about four months old when I moved away. She is now a junior in high school. I just can't believe it!!
They have a nice large house which backs up to Snug Harbor, off the James River. The poor dears have to look at the water, boats and gorgeous sunsets every day. :>) It is a lovely neighborhood. I parked Daisy and Sweet Pea on a gravel area beside their circular driveway. Late in the afternoon Marcella, Bridget and I walked down to the dock to enjoy the sight and the cool breeze for a while.
This evening we had a delicious dinner of shepherd's pie. Marcella's tasted much better than any I had ever eaten before.
Today was Steven's birthday. We had a wonderful seafood dinner tonight. Some of their friends -- Mike, Ellen, Toby and Ann -- as well as one of their other daughters, April, came over for the celebration. We had a very nice visit. I did my part by running out every few minutes to take photos of the sunset. :>)
