Last day on the road...Liberty to Hannibal, MO
Sep 6, 2008
|Yesterday we awoke in the parking lot of “Liberty RV”, the dealer for Mobile Suites where we purchased our RV two years ago.
I rolled over to Marilyn and suggested that we had never fooled around in an RV parking lot before. :) That was as far as it went folks. Neither of us still has ever fooled around in a parking lot.
So we were having coffee when they opened at 8:00 AM. We were ready to leave as soon as we paid the bill.
We were on the road toward Hannibal by a few minutes before 9:00 AM. Three hours and 45 minutes later we were 201 miles down the road and we pulled in to the Mark Twain Cave Campground. We had averaged 10.9 mpg for the trip. I might mention that we had filled the truck with diesel fuel the night before and it cost $3.89 per gallon.
We pulled in to our reserved space in Hannibal and were all set up within an hour. Annie was the first to drop by to say hello, with a hug. Then a long time friend, Dennis Greeves came by. Matt was close behind, followed by Jeff and Chuck. Then Jennifer & Colby arrived and that took most of our attention for awhile. Linda stopped by, then Jamie drove in and stopped over, Patty & Fran waved at us, then Fran walked over to give us hugs. A bit later, Kit & Jerry drove in and saw us. More hugs as we greeted these good people. Jim greeted us from across the small parking area, and then we met the neighbor, Crissy.
We finally got the rig all set up and decided to eat the pizza Jennifer brought for us.
We played with Colby until he fell asleep, Jen & Marilyn sat outdoors talking, and I checked the e-mails and blogs of friends.
Once the chores were done, I began to relax and got very sleepy. Travel days are stressful and we are always glad to arrive at our destination.
Tomorrow I need to get a haircut and set up our DISH antenna. If I can stay away from Colby long enough I might get the tripod stabilizer set up too.
We are baby sitting with Colby tomorrow and Sunday.
Colby has grown so much and he is one handsome little man. He is so good, rarely fussing, laughing a lot, and just a delight to be with.
We will sure enjoy our time with him over the next couple of months.
I have a few pictures to post for you so I will wrap up the journal and get busy with the pictures. The internet here is very slow. Almost dial up speed and I may have to drive in to McDonalds to use a faster connection to upload pictures. I promise to get them for you as soon as I can.
Yesterday was a good day of travel and we just can't wait to see what this day has in store.....
