We had a great couple of days exploring more of the coast of Texas. We drove from Padre Island over to Mustang Island, about 200 miles. We wanted to check out the campgrounds in the area and decide where we will move to next. We looked in Rockport, Fulton Beach and all over Mustang Island and Corpus Christi. We wanted to visit Mustang Island State Park but it was closed for repair. There is still a lot of damage in the area from Hurricane Harvey.
We loved the free ferry that connects to the island, it was fast and easy each time we took it. We rode on it three times going back and forth. :) We stayed for two days at the Hampton Inn in Port Aransas so we could have time to visit all the tiny towns in the area. We loved Port Aransas the most and are hoping to reserve a campsite right on the beach. This is a popular area for winter Texas, most of the campgrounds are already booked for months. We are still deciding which one is our favorite and hoping to snag a site for January.
This was a new area for us, I took a lot of pictures and hope you enjoy seeing them. We loved driving down the incredible beach on the second day. You can drive for miles right along the water, it was spectacular. Some of the campgrounds have boardwalks where you can walk right from your campsites to the beach. We were impressed with the island and can’t wait to do a lot of exploring when we move there in January. Check back later for more from Texas.
