After Beaumont we WERE looking forward to a couple weeks of relaxing at this resort fishing, crabbin, crawdaddyin and sightseeing New Orleans. When we arrived, however, our reservations were not there. The park had no idea of our pending arrival. When Dave called the service RPI, who handles our reservations for parks like this, a representative talked to the park manager, Barbara. Evidently the park was allowed to "blackout" a two to three week period for the pre and post Mardi Gras period. The park didn't do anything with our reservation made way back on the 16th Jan. Ok, ok so the park is full but for about 5 empty spaces, the manager called the park OWNER to get permission to let us stay in one space for ONE night. With our reservation we would have paid $8.00 for the night but without our reservation we ended up paying $39.90 . The park certainly could've let us stay at the RPI price, since we had a confirmation # to prove our intent. We learned several things, the RPI supervisor who LET the park "blackout" member reservations shouldn't have done so. Why didn't the park or RPI notify us by phone, they have that info, that the reservation wasn't being honored giving us the chance to rearrange our trip. The park manager should have the power to make that kind of decision on the spot. grrrrrrrrrr! ! ! ! ! The RPI resprentative tried every thing in her power to get us in the park but to no avail. She felt bad about it. Sooo, in the final analysis, we packup the next morning and left. We determined to go to Kessler AFB FAMCAMP about 2 weeks early.
