This morning I left the park at 8:30. I’m glad I didn’t leave any later than that because it was almost sundown by the time I had arrived in Austin. It was a very long drive – almost 11 hours. I stopped several times but didn’t waste any time. Tonight I’m very tired! I really don’t like driving that far in one day.
I calculated my fuel mileage from Hinton to Austin and was pleased to see that it was 10.8 mpg (good for a V10 Triton engine pulling such a heavy load). I wasn’t towing my car this time and I didn’t turn the air conditioner on until I reached Fort Worth. I’m sure that helped a little. However, even when I’m towing Sweet Pea, it doesn’t make much difference in the mileage.
