YAY! We didn't have to take a tent down this morning before breakfast!!!

We're a bit excited by that --it's been almost 6 weeks since we've been in a bed (could you tell?!). We all get very excited when we don't have to take the tent down in the morning!!

After breakfast, we piled into a mini-van and headed north to the spice plantations. At one one such plantation, we saw and tasted various spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg (which is supposedly an aphrodisiac for women), ginger (for men), cardomum, cloves, vanilla, pepper, and tumeric. We also saw something called the lipstick plant. When you crack open the seed pod, there are tiny red pellets the consistency of lipstick. When you crush it, you get a paste which you can then smear onto your lips.

Continuing north after the tour, we reached Nungwi, a small town with a few hotels and one 5 star resort on the north coast. It was very beautiful and the people were extremely laid back. The beach was a white, sandy beach, and the consistency of the sand was very fine and powdery, like baby powder. Very nice. We dropped our stuff off in the room, and headed straight for the water. Ahhh.....

For dinner, our group had a table on the beach, right at the edge of the water, and we went for the all you can eat buffet, which included Indian food and some fresh local seafood off the grill. Yummy.
