We hope all of our readers have a wonderful Father’s Day. Jerry had one of the “BEST” ever. We had a long drive through Rocky Mountain National Park with many stops for awesome wildlife along the way. We visited Estes Park and had a picnic right on the river walk. We did a lot of exploring in Estes and then took Vickie and Sammy to slide down the “big slide”. After the slide, Sammy ran a race in his number #10 race car. Next, we all drove over to the trout fishing pond. Jerry and Sam were hoping to catch some fresh trout for our freezer, but they didn’t have any luck. They fished for about two hours and it didn’t cost us anything. This is such a cool set up, they supply everything you need to fish, even the bait, you only pay when you catch a fish. The cost is one dollar for each inch, not bad. We may have to go back and try again, this time I am going to fish too.

After fishing we made our way back through Rocky Mountain National Park to Grand Lake on the other side. What a beautiful way to spend Father’s Day. We stopped and watched a family of elk walk across the road, they had four babies that were adorable. This along was worth the drive but we saw so much more. Our moose count is now up to 17 moose sightings and we saw a mama and baby on the way home. This is one of the most awesome back to nature parks we have visited. If you want to read more about the drive see my earlier update “Trail Ridge Road”. It is a wonderful drive and not to be missed.

Once we got back to Grand Lake we went home and freshened up for the Father’s Day dinner. Vickie treated us all to another outstanding dinner at the Grand Lake Lodge. Jerry and Sammy had the Whiskey Sirloin, it was nine ounces and aged for 21 days. Jerry said it was one of the best steaks he has put into his mouth, Sammy loved it too. Vickie and I had the Rainbow Trout again, it was just too good to pass up. I could eat that one every day. After dinner we all relaxed around the fire in the lodge before returning home to the campground. It was another awesome day in Colorado, check back later for more.
