We drove the Trail Ridge Drive again today, all the way to Estes Park. We made several stops along the way, many for wildlife viewing and some for hikes for Vickie and Sammy.

The first one was at the Alpine Visitor Center Trailhead —this trail is known for spectacular vistas. The trail is located near the top of Trail Ridge Road (Hwy 34) at the Alpine Visitor Center. Trailheads are located on the East side of Trail Ridge Road, across from the Visitor Center, and from the parking lot.

erry and I watched Vickie and Sam make it to the top, Sam first, Vickie right behind him. He even ran back down, this boy has a lot of energy and so does his mom. :-) Jerry and I have been doing all we can just to breath while in these high elevations. The campground we have been staying in is high enough for us at over 8,000 feet. The top of this hike was somewhere near 12,000 feet and it’s really hard to breath. You can’t beat youth. It was fun watching them from our car at least. :-)

The next trail was also at the top of the tundra, Vickie did this one solo but Sam did run up and join her on the way down. After the hikes in the park we had wonderful Indian food at the Nepal Indian Restaurant in Estes Park. This is the third trip there for Jerry and I, it was the first time for Vickie and Sam and they both loved the food too. It was a lunch buffet so they were able to try several dishes to see which ones they liked most. Now they know what to pick from an Indian Restaurant menu next time.

Our drive back through the park was just as awesome as usual. We have never seen so much wildlife in one area. We stopped many times and got videos and pictures of the moose, elk and more. It was another awesome day in Rocky Mountain National Park, check back later for more.
