|Okay, now I am so far behind in posting I may never catch up! We arrived in Vegas 9 days ago, driving 340 miles and 7 hours. As you know, we don't like to travel that time or distance on any one day if possible. We prefer 3-4 hours and 150 miles which many RV'ers find laughable. But, it works for us. If we can stay at least 2 days, preferably 7, better still. Of course many times there isn't much worth seeing in that 150 miles but we're happy to take in the local sights, eating at a local favorite or just sitting to read & relax. After all, we are supposed to be retired right????
We were blessed to have pretty cloud formations on our drive and you know how I love clouds. Vegas has nice clouds regularly so I enjoy sitting outside in the early evenings to enjoy them & a pretty sunset. When it's not toooooo hot! It's actually been below normal temps for May as I think many parts of the nation are experiencing. I know they are still getting a bit of both snow & rain in Ely. We're hoping it warms up quickly as we plan to be there soon.
Actually,we planned to leave here last Friday but my honey had a little mishap. The wind was blowing pretty hard last Sunday night/Monday morning. At 3am he got out of bed to latch the small landing gear door that was banging on the side of the rig. He was half asleep and he stepped down onto the first step & missed the other two, going straight to the ground. We think his foot landed on the concrete edging, twisting his foot & he ended up sprawled on the grass on his right shoulder. Bottom line, he broke his foot. It's a spiral break of the 5th metatarsal. He has an appointment with the orthopedic foot surgeon Tuesday. Unfortunately he didn't go to the doctor for six days thinking it was just a sprain. The pain was minimal in the early hours of the day, worse every evening. Of course we now know that it was worse in the evening because he was walking on it all day long. Not good. Treatment for this break is always 'no weight bearing'. Bottom line, he is using crutches, walking as little as possible and awaiting his Tuesday appointment.
Our 5'er seems to have a 'broken foot' as well. Our landing gear has been making a clicking sound for sometime. We were hoping it was a simple worm gear issue but turns out both landing legs need replaced. So our home is at the shop and hopefully we'll get it back Monday or Tuesday. Looks like I'll be practicing my set-up skills when we pick it up as I don't think Larry will be much help with his crutches!
Well, I'll write more another day, this post is long enough for now. Thanks for stopping by....
