Today I became an octogenarian. I can’t believe I’ve lived this long. When I was in my 20s I thought the world would end before I turned 30. Little did I realize that those times were tame compared to today!
My day started off very well. When I went out for breakfast this morning, there was a card and gift on my step. Then after breakfast, when I went to exercise class, there was a large “card” and a pretty bouquet on my chair. At lunch Chef Bobby served my favorite cake, pineapple upside down cake. He even gave me two extra pieces of it.
After lunch I drove over in my car to Woodsy Hollow RV Resort near Goodrich to see some of my RV buds who were attending a rally there. It was a combined group of Cen-Tex and Lone Star chapters of Loners on Wheels.
Woodsy Hollow is in a very pretty setting and has lots of opportunities for activities, such as fishing, walking trails, birding, kayaking and pedal boating. As expected, it is heavily wooded and some of the trees are quite large. There is a deep, spring-fed lake on site. The park is located 1.9 miles south of US 59 on FM 2665.
There were six of my friends at the rally. It was good to see them again. We played table games for a while and then drove into Livingston to have dinner at Joe’s Italian Grille. Annette asked the waitress whether they gave a free dessert for birthday celebrants. Of course, they did, and had the group of (off-key ) singers do the birthday song for me. I chose strawberry cheesecake, which was delicious. Annette paid for my dinner. I brought home enough of my leftovers for two more meals!
