Our trip from Winslow to Phoenix, AZ was a leisurely 191 miles that involved descending about 5,000 feet and the accompanying scenery of the descent. It's a beautiful drive and the Mothership handled the downgrades in fine fashion. We are staying at the Desert Shadows RV Resort for the third time over four years and there has been no decline in its facilities at all. It's a great place to stay and is close to I-17 which runs down the center of Phoenix. It takes 15-20 minutes to reach my brother's house, depending on traffic. We have full hookups, great Verizon and an easy shot to the satellite. The highs in Phoenix have been a pleasant mid 80°s to mid 90°s but it is supposed to get to 101° by Monday - time to move on!!

We have had a fantastic time this last five days visiting with my brother and his wife. My aunt accompanied us from Oklahoma and has been staying with my brother as well so it has been great reminiscing about our past life as well as catching up on recent events. My brother, Lonnie, is a fantastic cook and has kept us grazing for five days on his many creations. I'm afraid we will have to abstain from eating at all for the next five days just to try to break even!

We also managed to get the Mothership all washed and waxed on Wednesday by McGraw Mobile Detail. They are a little more expensive than others we have used but do a very high quality job. Their attention to detail is extensive and we are very happy with our new "shine"!

We head for the big city of Quartzite, AZ tomorrow for a one night visit to see what all of the fuss is about. Of course, it's out of season and much of the hoopla will be absent.
