Yesterday we awoke at 4:08 AM due to a thunderstorm passing through the area. The lightning lit up the entire bedroom through the transparent skylight. The thunder was loud enough to keep our attention and we finally got out of bed around 5:30 AM.

We had our morning coffee and listened to the rain on the roof.

By 8:00 AM we were nearly ready to leave and we were on the road before 8:30. We drove through Tulsa and continued west on 412 to Enid where we were stopping to have lunch with Ralph & Rosalie. Ralph was one of my fellow pilots and instructors at Flight Safety, Intl and we have been friends since Feb of 2000.

They talked to us on our cell phones and told us where we could park our rig on the west side of town. They drove up soon after we were parked and, after hugs all around, we went to have lunch.

We had a nice lunch at “Applebees” and said goodbye with more hugs.

We were back on the road by 1:30 PM and drove over fairly good roads all the way to Woodward, Oklahoma, where we turned north on Hwy 34 to 34C east to “Boiling Springs State Park”. Howard & Linda Payne were already camped there and we had sort of a reunion with these wonderful people.

Howard & Linda are the primary people responsible for us living this lifestyle. We love them for many reasons and it was great to see them again, so soon after leaving the rv-dreams rally in Branson.

Once we were all set up in a site near Howard & Linda, Marilyn & I both took showers and put on some clean clothing. We carried snacks and some cold drinks over to their campsite and enjoyed good conversation for an hour or so before deciding to go home and have dinner.

We had spoken to Howard & Linda on the phone before we arrived and they asked if they could pick up any groceries for us as they were going to the local Wal-Mart. We suggested hamburger patties and some buns which they did purchase for us.

Guess what we are having for dinner!

We were on the road for nearly seven hours today, traveled some of the typical rough, washboard roads in Oklahoma, followed some wheat harvest combines at 20 mph for many miles, and covered about 285 miles at 10.3 mpg. Quite a day!

In our visit with Howard & Linda we spoke of the fond memories from the rally and of many of the good people we met there. Hello to all of you fine people who read our blog! Hugs to each and every one of you! We miss you!

As the evening draws to a close we realize that we have had a great day today. Tomorrow is another day and we have decided to take a break in our travel and stay here another day and night. Grocery shopping and laundry may occupy our time tomorrow but no matter what, we can’t wait to see what adventures tomorrow has in store…..

P.S. We are on-line courtesy of Howard & Linda, who are parked across the road from us. This will allow me to post 10 pictures of Withrow Springs, Arkansas, 10 of Natural Falls, Oklahoma and a few taken here in Boiling Springs

Enjoy!
