We visited downtown Rapid City and took pictures of some of the presidents to share with our readers. Visitors to historic downtown Rapid City are greeted by the City of Presidents, a series of life-size bronze statues of our nation’s past presidents along the city’s streets and sidewalks. Whether you’re enjoying downtown shopping, dining or other attractions, you can enjoy these sculptures free. I didn’t get great pictures of all of them, I am adding the best ones.
We wanted to visit the Main Street Park too, but we could not find a parking place, it was really busy. The City of Presidents project began in 2000 to honor the legacy of the American presidency. Each of the sculptures is privately funded, and the pattern of placement was chosen to maintain a coherent structure and eliminate any sense of favoritism or political gain. They are on almost every corner all over the city. It was a cool tour, we hope you enjoy seeing them with us.
We are finding so many things to see and do in this area, I hope we can get to all of them before our time ends. Check back later for more from South Dakota.
