We explored the Newport area, Agate Beach and onto the Nye Beach Area. We had lunch at Cafe Mundo, an eclectic cafe with wonderful atmosphere and great food. We had their Chicken Mole Tacos, tasty with outstanding Verde Salsa. We explored Nye Beach and found the Historic Sylvia Beach Hotel originally the New Cliff House, also known as the Hotel Gilmore was built in 1913. The hotel was built for W.D. Wheeler and was promoted by the Southern Pacific Railroad. The popularity of the new resort at Newport was enhanced by the availability of alcohol, something unusual in the mostly "dry" area. The hotel overlooks Nye Beach, and is the only remnant of the tourist accommodations of that era. This is truly a hotel for book lovers. There are no tv's, radios, or telephones in the rooms and no wi-fi. Each of the 20 rooms has a Author theme - Hemingway, Jules Verne, Agatha Christie, Steinbeck, Mark Twain, Virginia Woolf and others. Sylvia Beach Hotel is listed in the book "1000 Things to See Before Your Die"

We also saw Quarry Cove at Cape Kaquina.
