With Debbie & Andy

We had a very leisurely morning - didn't pull out of the Elk Lodge in St. Augustine until almost 11:00. Then we didn't get far before we were stopped at the draw bridge for several sailboats to pass thru. That was a nice farewell to St. Augustine! We bypassed Jacksonville but did pass the Port of Jacksonville where we saw lots of activity. There were lots of containers stacked up in the port but most of the ships we saw were the type that carry cars.

We barely got into Georgia before we stopped for the nite. We got off on Exit 1 in Kingsland & checked into the Country Oaks Campground. Would love to spend more time in that rv park & in that area (recommend it to anyone going thru this area) but we had planned to just stop for the nite to see an old friend from the Hartland staff - Debbie Rommeney Lowe. It turned out she & husband Andy lived just a couple of blocks from the park. She had invited us over to their home for a Georgia dinner. We didn't know what to expect but knowing Debbie we knew whatever she prepared would be delicious - and she didn't let us down: a delicious crab salad, followed by shrimp & grits, followed by strawberries & cream on angelfood cake! One thing David has wanted to try when we got to the South was shrimp & grits - how did Debbie know? Ha! It was a lovely evening getting reacquainted with Debbie & getting to know Andy. Debbie's mom had dinner with us & we also got to meet their daughter & son-in-law & grandchildren before we headed home.

It was a great evening with friends. Tomorrow we'll head on to Savannah. More later...
