Breakfast w/ folks we met, Mary & Ralph from Portland...decided to try meeting up in San Ignacio on Sat. Took water taxi back to Belize City, walked to bus station and immed got on bus to Dangriga. Less than 2 hours later arr...bus traveled on nice 2 lane road, past miles of citrus groves (mostly oranges, some grapefruit). Just before entering Dangriga we passed a big processing plant (CPBL?)for fruit, lots of tractor trailers hauling loads of oranges - for juice?. Bus was just a step up from school bus...AC was on the whole time even tho it was overcast and cool outside, inside bus was COLD, ha! Houses in Belize countryside are wood, up on stilts with corrigated steel roof, small 12x15/15x20 or so...perhaps half are cement block-look to be newer ones and many of these on ground.

We walked to Ruthies Cabanas because LP said she had TV and we've gotten into the Olympics! More expensive than we are used to (TV!) but less than Caye Caulker ($37 vs $50 US)...found out about day trip to (...) for snorkeling tomorrow, lv at 9:30 return at 6, $35 US package. Some debate about staying the night but I wanted to see Olympics so opted for day only then back to Ruthies.

Went to Museum to find out more about local Black Caribs-Garifunas.
